Campervan Hire Reykjavik Airport

The best way to get around Iceland is via campervan rental. The country has an extensive network of roads, but there are no motorways, so if you're looking for a fast route between two locations, then you'll probably find yourself stuck in traffic jams. That's why campervan rentals are such a good option. They allow you to travel at your own pace, without having to worry about getting lost or running out of petrol. There are plenty of campsites dotted across the island, where you can stop and pitch your tent, but they tend to be quite expensive, especially when compared to renting a campervan. If you don't mind staying in hotels instead, then you should check out our guide to cheap accommodation in Iceland.

If you're planning on visiting Iceland during the summer months, then you might not be able to rent a campervan from outside of Reykjavík. This is because most of the major routes into the city centre are closed due to roadworks, making it impossible to drive a campervan through the city itself. Instead, you'll have to head north along Route 1, before turning east onto Route 462 towards Akureyri. From here, you can either continue driving south-eastwards along Route 461 until you reach Keflavík International Airport, or turn west onto Route 864, which takes you straight to the airport.

Once you arrive at the airport, you'll need to pay a deposit of IDR 2 million per person (US$20) upon arrival.
