Bordeaux is a beautiful city located in south west France. It has an excellent reputation for its wine making industry and is known as the "City of Wine". This makes it perfect for motorhome holidays. There are many campsites within easy reach of the city centre, including Camping de la Cite du Vin, Le Grand Landais and Les Pins de l'Olivier. The area around Bordeaux is full of interesting places to visit such as Chateau d'Yquem, St Emilion and Cognac. The best way to get around Bordeaux is by car. Public transport isn't really worth considering unless you plan on visiting some of the smaller towns nearby. The main bus station is situated at Place Gambetta. There are several local buses running from the bus station into the city centre. These run every 15 minutes during the day and take approximately 30 minutes to complete the journey. A taxi costs between €10-15 depending on where you wish to travel.
If you're planning on staying in Bordeaux for longer than just a few days then you might consider renting a house. There are plenty of properties available to rent in the region. Some of these include chalets, cottages and apartments. Most of them come fully furnished and equipped with everything you need. Rentals start at around £300 per week for a small apartment. They are generally not suitable for families though, due to the lack of space.
