The best way to get around Milan is by bike. The city is full of narrow streets, cobbled alleys and piazzas where you can stop and enjoy some gelato before continuing on your journey. For those wanting to explore further afield, the Linate Airport is about 15 minutes away by train. A taxi ride into town costs between €20-30 depending on traffic conditions. If you prefer public transport, take Line 1 to Porta Garibaldi station (€2) and change onto line 2 (€1). From here you can either walk to Via Montenapoleone or catch bus No. 11, which runs along Corso Buenos Aires until Piazza della Repubblica.
There are many restaurants close to the hostel including La Bottega di Giorgio e Giuseppe (Via Monte Napoleone 9), Da Gianni (Corso Magenta 10) and Il Barocco (Piazza San Babila 4). For a quick bite to eat, head to nearby Mercado Comunale (Via Cairoli 5) or find a cafe near the Duomo.
You can buy tickets for the metro system at any newsstand. Tickets start at €1.50 and are valid for 90 minutes.
