Cartagena Motorcycle Rental
The first thing you need to do before renting a motorcycle in Cartagena is make sure you have a valid driver’s license. The second thing you should do is check the weather forecast. If you plan on riding at night, you might want to bring along some extra clothes. Also, remember to pack plenty of water and snacks because you won't find any shops open late during the day. Finally, don't forget to get your passport stamped upon entering Colombia.
After arriving in Cartagena, head over to one of the many bike rentals located around town. They usually offer discounts if you book ahead of time. Once you've picked out a bike, go to the counter and pay for it. Then, take the keys back to the office where they keep them until you return the bike. After returning the bike, you must show proof of insurance. Some places require a copy of your ID while others accept only cash. In either case, you will receive a receipt for your insurance information.
You will not be allowed to ride the bike without having insurance. However, you can buy temporary insurance at the same place you rented the bike. It costs about $5 per hour. Be careful though; you cannot insure the bike for longer than 30 days.
When you arrive at your destination, look for the address written on the registration plate. Make sure you write down the name of the street you are staying on. Then, drive to the end of the road and park the bike. Look for a small sign indicating "Atención" (Attention).
